Department: TechnologyFTE: 1.0Position Definition: General Statement of Responsibilities: The Data Analyst Clerk is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Student Information System (SIS), extracting data from the SIS for other applications used within the district and for reporting to the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE). The Data Analyst Clerk provides end-user support for MMS, and the SIS program. Additionally, this position performs database backup, and coordinates with other staff to verify database validity. The Data Analyst Clerk is the point of contact for various vendors, and RIDE for areas assigned by the Director of Technology.Supervision Received: This position reports to the Director of Technology.Supervision Exercised: NoneIllustrative examples of work performed: Responsible for the Student Information System (SIS) including: oAdd, change and delete staff as needed.
oCoordinate importing and exporting numerous databases.Coordinate all reporting to the State of Rhode Island, including TCS, CRDC, EDC matching, NECAP (pull only), enrollment, discipline, EIS, homeless, attendance and others as needed.Perform setup/rollover of programs and data for upcoming school openings.Ensure automatic backup of data systems and operating system level backups are occurring regularly, and correctly.Maintain roles of staff and create user accounts in SIS of students and staff. Assist in the creation of student email accounts. Assist in the creation and support of School Fusion accounts, and other accounts as directed.Create custom reports and programming for data extraction and input into other software systems. This currently includes Aims web, Pearson, Discovery, Active Directory and Blackboard Connect (manage manually for staff changes).Troubleshoot parent portal issues, duplicate errors, demographic errors, enrollment verification issues, data validation errors, ensure correct coding, weekly updated submissions to school website.Reconcile data errors to the state and ensure clean data is recorded.Serve as RIDE liaison for all Data questions.Attend weekly update webinars regarding RIDE reporting.
Provide backup to any questions asked about data related to RIDE, especially by secretaries.Attend meetings at RIDE or other locations both in and out of state as needed.Knowledge, skills and capabilities: Candidate should possess strong problem solving, analytical and communications skills in addition to basic technical knowledge of systems, hardware and software utilized at Westerly Public Schools.Must be flexible in regard to schedule to accommodate reports due to RIDE, training needs and special projects as required.Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.Education and Experience: Education: A High School diploma is required. Additional education in Computer Science or a related field is preferred but sufficient related work experience may be substituted for higher education.Sufficient related work experience may be substituted for higher education.Preferred Certifications include: Microsoft Technology Associate Fundamentals; Database Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate: SQL Server Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Data Platform, Business IntelligenceExperience: 3+ years of related experience, education and/or training
