Position Summary

You'll put both the “dev” and the “ops” into “devops”.

As a developer, you'll work with our data scientists and business partners to create fast reliable web applications and API services at scale, to drive the definition and implementation of the

next generation of applications and analytics tools for our predictive

intelligence platform.

These services enable pricing decisions within Walmart, central to Walmart's promise to “Save Money. Live Better.”

As an operations professional, you'll create deployment plans for the stateless services which power our services. You'll rely on your prior experience delivering stateless services with a cloud provider like AWS, Azure, or Heroku.

You'll take pride in documenting your solutions, ensuring discoverability and freshness.

Your automated tests will be so thorough that you're unafraid to deploy at peak time.

As a Software Engineering (DevOps), you will have the

opportunity to work closely with our data scientists, business partners

and systems engineers to drive the definition and implementation of the

next generation of applications and analytics tools for our predictive

intelligence platform. Minimum Qualifications

BS plus 5 years MS in Computer Science or a related technical field plus 3 or PhD plus 0 years of experience.

You've created, deployed, and monitored web services from start to finish. One of your web applications was written in Rails.

You're a polyglot. Ruby and Python are necessities. Java close behind. Big bonus points for Golang.

When a service isn't responding, you can use your Red Hat, CentOS, and networking knowledge to troubleshoot.

You can write SQL. You understand the advantages and disadvantages of using an ORM.

Jenkins is second nature to you.

You use monitoring tools like monit or Nagios. Running out of disk space embarrasses you.

The customer is always at the front of your mind. You obsess over streamlining processes for your customers. Similarly, the definition of a clean contract between services warms your heart. Additional Preferred Qualifications

Experience with troubleshooting and performance tuning in JVM, MySQL,

MongoDB, Cassandra

Experience with setting up a whole network infrastructure, configuring

and troubleshooting networking issues

Experience in secure, scalable and highly available online services

Experience in data visualization

Experience collaborating with multiple teams

Experience in Big Data applications

Experience and passion to work in a fast paced Agile environment,
