The Senior Data Architect will be responsible for defining, articulating, implementing and realizing our data architecture strategy to meet the strategic IT goals of GE Power Technology. This role will involve a broad spectrum of application, information, technical, data and business architectures with an Enterprise focus across a global group of stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Senior Data Architect, you will:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert of GE Power Technology’s data architecture program, defining and implementing standards and processes to ensure alignment with the architectural strategy and goals of the business
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure data architecture alignment with key portfolio initiatives on the basis of cost, functionality and practicality
  • Create documentation and presentations, as well as lead discussions with business and technology owners to receive buy-in and approval
  • Document and articulate relationships between business goals and information technology solutions
  • Develop, recommend and execute strategic and tactical data architecture road-maps
  • Conduct architecture assessments and reviews to ensure alignment with business goals and strategies
  • Provide in-depth technical architectural support during program/project solution analysis and design to ensure road-map alignment
  • Champion data quality and effective use of available information
  • Participate in POC evaluations of technologies and tools


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance or Engineering (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in the application of information technologies to business solutions)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience serving as an Enterprise Architect, data architect, program manager of large IT projects / programs and / or similar role in a large, complex organization
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with various technology and application integration projects
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in with process improvements or data architecture implementations

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

  • Green Belt Certified or equivalent Quality Certification
  • TOGAF Certified / ITIL Certified
  • Track record of successfully developing and driving enterprise level data strategy
  • Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, MarkLogic and others
  • Experience as a DBA, SQL Developer, and/or data modeler
  • Experience with master data management
  • Experience serving in a software solutions design and delivery role
  • Track record of success designing scalable solutions at the enterprise level
  • Experience estimating strategic, operational, and financial impacts of architecture solutions in support of portfolio initiatives
  • Proven ability to lead change, gain consensus and continuously improve processes
  • Experience using Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques to drive change
  • Proven analytical and problem resolution skills
  • Strong leadership, Project management and Strategic thinking skills
  • Solid facilitation and presentation skills to lead design sessions with business and technical audiences to come up with solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive change in a complex matrix environment
