We make the equipment that makes the pool work: Automation, pumps, filters, salt chlorinators, cleaners, lighting, heaters, and more. We are seeking a Digital Product Manager for Mobile Apps and Software . This is a strategically critical role, requiring cross-functional, global leadership within a quickly growing, fast-paced organization. Software is a key pillar of our product offering: from embedded software, to API’s, desktop and mobile applications. Key Responsibilities

The Product Manager for mobile apps and software will

Ensure Zodiac continues to refine and develop a cohesive software strategy across all portfolios.

Ensure that embedded software specifications support our global IoT vision and strategies:

Iterative development and communication of global standards for embedded software.

Close collaboration with product development teams, including product managers, project managers, and engineering, to ensure that product specs adhere to global standards for embedded software.

Where necessary, propose and manage projects to ensure no products are ‘left behind’.

Own the development and deployment schedules for software, apps, and related tools.

Define and communicate our standards for minimally viable release candidates.

Assess needs, and refine our processes relative to software revision control.

Support product development teams as needed from a software and mobile app perspective.

Tactical day-in, day-out leadership within a matrixed R&D team which is simultaneously focused on software and hard goods.

Duties & Essential Job Functions

Work with the UX manager to develop customer journey maps, refine personas and user stories in order to fully develop and communicate software specifications.

Be a vocal advocate for the user experience.

Ensure we meet the needs of key user groups such as installers, owners, and servicers.

Lead research and user acceptance testing of software to identify user insights and pain-points.

Analyze key trends in app design, technology, and usage to ensure wise deployment of resources.

Assess competitive and adjacent products and technologies.

Strong presentation skills required. Create content as needed for internal and external presentations, and become a thought leader and advocate for the software strategies.

Other Functions And Responsibilities

Coordinate app store launches, and coordinate those launches with effective communications to broader stakeholders using traditional marketing techniques.

As needed, collaborate in assessment and selection of 3rd party technologies and services

As needed, support the training and development of cross-functional team mates and stakeholders.

Qualifications – Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities

Ability to develop short and long term strategies within an IoT framework.

Ability to explain software needs in plain language, to a traditional ‘hard goods’ audience.

Highly organized

Self-motivated. When you see an opportunity, you “itch” to do something about it.

4+ years experience in software development – preferably with some combination of mobile applications, desktop applications, and embedded software.

Ability to define, document, and articulate software specifications to technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong end-user empathy, and a desire to root out latent wants and needs.

Experience working in a stage gate project management culture

Experience working in an agile project management culture


Bachelor's Degree


The following traits or experiences would be considered advantageous:

Prior product or project leadership in a stage gate or agile environment

Prior product development experience with physical products

Prior experience with construction trades

Prior experience with home automation, industrial automation, or related

Product management experience.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to read and write, sit, walk within the facility to access file cabinets, documents ,stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 10 pounds. They also occasionally move objects weighing up to 20 lbs., and sometimes, but rarely, up to 50 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
