Model sensor physics and develop algorithms to improve the performance of devices for applications such as computer vision, audio processing, predictive analytics. Collaborate with hardware designers to guide the development of hardware that can leverage modern algorithmic advances. Lead data collection efforts and train machine learning algorithms to improve accuracy of devices at given tasks. Publish, present and collaborate on the future of computing within the research community.
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (or foreign educational equivalent) or relevant technical discipline such as Physics plus three years of industry or research experience in modeling complex real world systems. Experience must also include: analyzing the phases of systems in a regime relevant to modern devices including strongly interacting quantum systems and atomic physics; analyzing the dynamics of novel physical phenomena in a regime relevant to modern devices; developing computational physics techniques leveraging distributed computing resources; developing and improving optimization algorithms applied to non-convex problems including Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers; developing machine learning algorithms for real time learning from streaming data; mathematically proving scaling properties of machine learning algorithms; designing and implementing optimization algorithms across distributed embedded hardware platforms; working with Arduino or Raspberry Pi open-source hardware platforms; implementing Zigbee or WiFi wireless network technologies for distributed embedded machine learning; implementing vision systems for tracking multiple objects and interfacing them in real time with machine learning algorithms; developing and implementing distributed algorithms that explicitly leverage modern distributed computing resources; and, designing and implementing state-of-the-art algorithms in a multi-developer environment using optimized C++ code with version control. Requires domestic and international travel required to other ADI facilities and customer sites approximately 10% of time.
