Lead Software Engineer/Manager – Thunder IoT Cloud
Join a growing team building and operating a new service to deliver real-time business intelligence and personalized engagement solutions. We are using the latest cloud technologies to build highly scalable 1:1 responsive journeys for “The Internet of Customers.”
Thunder engineering is responsible for delivering those journeys. We’re looking for a hands-on senior engineering manager who is equally comfortable advocating for engineers with senior management, working directly with engineers to coach and improve software engineering strategies and skills, and planning and executing the work.
Manage small to medium teams of engineers including remote staff
Partner with the product owner, other engineering managers, and technical leads to plan, execute, deploy, and operate tooling
Sustain high levels of productivity and morale by providing leadership, mentorship, and motivation to the engineering team through regular feedback loops
Drive improvements in agile engineering practices across teams
Provide technical leadership to deliver agile, scalable, and trusted services
Hands-on 30-50% of the time working to develop self service developer tooling.
Help developers learn and/or improve problem resolution skills
Collect and use data to identify and eliminate areas of risk to engineering effectiveness
Attract, develop, and grow engineers to develop and continuously improve self-organizing, empowered, motivated teams with service-ownership values
5+ years software development experience including SaaS delivery
Computer-science background including Java languages and frameworks or equivalent experience
2+ years managing engineering teams
Ability to motivate engineers to achieve extraordinary results
Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent work experience
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Experience with Kafka, Storm, Spark, Cassandra, Spinnaker, Junit or related data engineering technologies
