As an Internet of Things (IoT) Engineer you will work with GE Global Research and GE Business teams to define, build, and execute strategic research and development programs; focused on building the IoT and the Industrial Internet applications.

You will:

  • Develop, lead and grow new technology concepts with strategic impact focusing on the IoT / Industrial Internet using cutting edge software and hardware systems
  • Lead the development and delivery of new IoT technology for core GE products
  • Interface with business leaders and provide direction and guidance for technology roadmaps
  • Identify key technical issues and produce cutting-edge technical breakthroughs in the emerging technology area of IoT
  • Actively design, architect, and develop IoT enabling technologies (edge computing, device software, device hardware, device management, security, communications, etc.)

    Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with minimum 5 years experience in design and development of IoT systems OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with minimum 10 years experience in design and development of IoT systems
  • Experience with embedded computers, GPUs, and industrial controllers
  • Experience with Linux operating systems
  • Experience in C/C++ programming
  • Experience in designing distributed hardware/software architect
  • Self-motivated, innovative, willing to pursue new technical areas and capable of working independently
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; we will not sponsor individuals at the Masters level for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
  • Must be 18 years or older

    Desired Characteristics

  • Experience working in an industrial domain/environment (e.g. power and water, oil and gas, manufacturing, rail)
  • Experience with Linux based software container technology
  • Experience with production software development using DevOps approach
  • Experience with Cloud application architectures, data center architectures
  • Experience with Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Experience with wireless sensor networks, and wireless communication protocols such as WiFi, Zigbee, Bluetooth, Wireless Hart, 6LowPAN, RFID
  • Familiar with main stream programming languages such as Java, Golang, Python and etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert high-level customer needs into a technical development strategy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Communicate effectively both in written and oral English
