As the lead analytics consultant, reporting to the SVP of Finance, this position is responsible for working with functional areas within Finance and throughout the Company on an as needed basis to help inform and execute strategy and monitor and report on those strategic decisions. This position would also gather and perform analysis on the Company’s competitors in the market place as needed to support strategic decisions. In addition, this position would help develop management reporting and assist with automation of reporting to drive efficiencies. This position functions as a primary subject matter expert in data analytics and collaborates and provides consultative support to various matrix organization stake holders. This position is responsible for building models and analytics using SAS and various data sources, including EDW among others, identified within the company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Form collaborative working relationships with key business unit leaders (senior leaders within the organization) to facilitate providing assistance with analytics – this would include at a minimum finance business unit leaders, market team leaders in each state and network contracting leadership.
Participate in discussions with the market teams to understand the strategy in each state.
Discuss with internal clients the business issue that needs to be addressed and determine the appropriate analysis to complete to support decision making.
Perform analysis around competitor information to provide insight into competitive rate position, among other items as well as from a provider perspective to understand the Company’s provider rate position.
Write advanced SAS and/or SQL programs for data extraction and develop excel-based models for the business to use as self-service tools.
Provide financial insights from the analysis that is completed that is actionable and easy to understand.
Present the results of the analysis to key constituents.
Take the initiative to monitor and evaluate financial information to identify drivers and areas for ad hoc analysis.
Coordinate and interact with other analytic groups to ensure consistency use of data and ensure there is no duplication of efforts.
Ensure data quality and integrity of the results being reported.
BA/BS required. MBA with emphasis in finance.
Minimum 10 years experience in conducting financial analytics.
Experience in developing datasets, applications and models, integrated with a wide variety of data sources.
Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of health insurance industry from a medical cost, product and benefit perspective.
Skilled at manipulating and analyzing large data sets.
Possess deep knowledge of SAS or other programming language (SQL) and advanced use of MS Access, Excel.
Duties require broad and in-depth knowledge of financial/data analysis and the ability to function independently and creatively.
Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, have an aptitude for detail-oriented work, proven ability to lead and manage complex projects.
Must have excellent communication skills and be willing to work collaboratively with other departments.
