We are looking for a talented data analyst to join our exciting, fast-paced and growing team! The Healthcare Data Analyst contributes to the overall success of our organization by reviewing, trending, reporting and interpreting population health data to better understand total cost, utilization and quality of care for a defined patient population typically part of an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) or simiar environment. Through analyzing patient claims and organizational data, the Healthcare Data Analyst will contribute to identifying progress, performance and opportunities for improvement on program, financial, quality, patient experience and other metrics. Reports will help rural healthcare facilities in various value-based and pay-for-performance programs understand and identify methods to maximize reimbursement and improve population heath. This work contributes to the development of new strategies and tactics to improve overall health care delivery and transform rural health systems across the country as they adapt from volume-based to value-based models of care.
Prepare a variety of reports including statistical analyses for stakeholders to assist with decision-making and tracking accountability. Develop new reports, dashboards and other means to enable transparency and to monitor system-wide performance of program progress, total cost of care and clinical quality. Support acquisition and implementation of new information sources, data collection strategies, data governance, and analytics.
Monitor and interpret the performance of a participant “scorecard” report to track accountability on a monthly basis; review and analyze performance data, and summarize it to present the the participant
Become an expert “superuser” of Lightbeam Heath Solutions, a data warehouse and analytics system, and support internal and external stakeholders in optimizing their use of the Lightbeam Data Warehouse
Collect, trend and compare CMS claims data on cost and utilization, as well as quality scores.
Mine and aggregate dataset to identify trends/opportunities at regional- and national-level
Respond to Ad hoc reporting requests by creating reports as needed for specific situations
Supply data from Lightbeam to internal staff for grant reporting requirements
Discuss scorecard performance with internal stakeholders, identifying areas for improvement and strategies to achieve improvements
Create and upload relevant education videos in the learning management system; develop associated written education documents to accompany videos
Perform quality assurance analysis and functions on multiple data sets
Interpret data and support meaningful data reporting (trending, dash boarding, and graphical reporting for presentation)
Help staff with data manipulation and other methods to improve data quality when required
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines to support the Performance Improvement team
Bachelor degree with concentration in health informatics, health administration, computing, epidemiology, statistics or related field
2-3 years of previous data analysis and/or applied research experience. Previous HMO/Managed Care or Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred; experience or interest in understanding patient care delivery in rural health care setting a plus
Preferred understanding of health data formats including: Medicare claims, EMR, lab and pharmacy
Excellent knowledge of data collection, analysis, statistics and data presentation with experience in data mining techniques and procedures
Prefer Industry knowledge including Accountable Care Organizations, health care reform, population health management models
Experience using statistical packages for analyzing large data sets, advanced MS Excel and Access skills and experience, SQL report writing skills and experience a plus
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
Demonstrated ability to complete projects in an environment with diverse, competing and sometimes conflicting priorities
Ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate participant performance against risk-based population health programs and develop tactics to improve performance and minimize total cost of care
Ability to present concepts and analysis in front of diverse audiences
