Director of Lighting Controls ...

Lead the development of embedding advanced control, communication and sensing technologies into Amerlux products to work both with existing control and network protocols as well as building the platform for Amerlux to partner or develop its own controls/network infrastructure.

  • Create our own control components based on open standard protocol to allow us to supply a complete lighting control systems based on ours and other vendors components
  • Manage controls systems/technology lab and testing facilities in an effort to support the timely execution of product development priorities.
  • Forge and maintain high level relationships as required with key controls, component, communications and network partners, associations and vendors to stay on the forefront of the developments in the expansion of the smart/connected lighting industry.
  • Spearhead the identification of network requirements (hardware, firmware, communication and network layers) to define needs and develop scope documentation, the organization and management of development team and the execution of projects in support of the company’s product and strategic plans.
  • Work with Product Management and key clients and influences to identify key customer control, communication and data needs for Amerlux Smart Lighting needs.
  • Work with Product Development Teams and Director of Electrical and Software to organize the work for integration and development of smart solutions and networks.
  • Interface with controls companies to insure Amerlux compatibility with major lighting control technology and communication protocols (Wired, wireless, POE).
  • Manage various priorities by optimum use of personal time; other people’s time;
  • Other duties as deemed priority and appropriate by the Company and management.
    • 5+ years of LED lighting control system experience.
    • Knowledge of lighting control systems, building control system interface, and sensors (wired and wireless).
    • Advanced knowledge of IoT interface, control system integration, digital communication, network architecture and security.
    • In depth understanding of cloud computing protocol stack including software, platform and infrastructure of cloud services (SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS).
    • Lifi experience a plus.
    • Ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements. Ability to define and architect friendly and effective GUI.
    • Hands-on experience with control equipment application, installation and commissioning.
    • Understanding of energy codes, safety and governmental compliance requirements including UL and FCC
    • Firmware (C) or Software (C++, Java, Delphi or similar) skills required.
    • Good communication skills required, along with the ability to effectively interact and collaborate with product teams, vendors and compliance organizations.
    • Effective use and management of time while juggling various priorities.
    • Working relationships with existing control companies a plus.
    • Lighting Certified – advantage
    • Occasional travel will be required
