The primary purpose of this entry-level Database Analyst position is to learn and perform fundamental database administration tasks – i.e., implement or modify databases, to work with developers and end users in accessing their databases, and to assist senior-staff in performance tuning, version migration and daily improvements in the physical DB space.
This job is necessary for corporate data to be available, accessible and protected.
Increase knowledge of basic Database Administration by working with Senior-level Staff.
Implement new or modify existing database objects such as databases, tablespaces, tables and indexes.
Perform monitoring and tuning of database systems and application performance.
Implement utilities – including backup and restore, as defined by Enterprise Data Management Procedures.
Provide assistance to developers by replicating data from production to other database subsystems for unit and system testing.
Assist Developers, Users and Management in accessing databases.
Assist Senior-Staff with installing and testing new versions of database managers and related software products.
Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science related discipline or an equivalent academic/experience combination.
Desired but not required:
Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS-SQL, other RDBMS databases
Linux and Windows
2 Plus years of professional experience (preferably in Database Management)
