Position: Data Visualization Engineer

A bit about this role…

Our Data Visualization Engineer is responsible for translating data structures into web-based visualizations using tools like D3 and HighCharts and for supporting many additional tools leveraged across our enterprise to fulfill the analytics needs of the business. This position will work closely with our business partners and technical leads to ensure solutions meet their objectives, help deliver and deploy new projects, and manage day to day support activities.

Responsibilities

Write queries and manage data transformation to enable analytics and reporting

Help analyze, visualize, and provide analytics on data to build reporting solutions to support various company initiatives

Participate in the on-going development of the business intelligence and data warehousing functions within the wider organization

Build rich and dynamic dashboards using out-of-box features, customizations, and visualizations using d3, Angular.js or equivalent

Participate in the creation and support of BI development standards and best practices

Explore and recommend emerging technologies and techniques to support/enhance BI landscape components

Qualifications

Keen design sense and a passion for data and data visualization. You probably have a portfolio of work you're eager to show off.

A creative and analytical mindset to present information. You'll be exploring awesome new ways to visualize data collected from cities around the world.

Experience or interest in real-time data. You'll be responsible for surfacing high-speed, up-to-the-second insights to users around the world.

Strong sense of web UX, with experience building intuitive web interfaces that present data in compelling ways.

Solid front-end architecture and coding skills, and experience in building reusable components that fit together into scalable production applications.

Interest in data pipelines, APIs and query languages. You'll have a voice in how data is processed, transformed and exposed to front-end consumers.

Knowledgeable with cutting-edge JavaScript frameworks and libraries, including React, D3, Leaflet, WebGL, and many more.

A motivated, self-starter who likes to own what you're working on, who is comfortable driving development from a sketch of an idea to a polished product.

Minimum 3 years industry experience
