Position SummaryThe Data Scientist will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data, and help us make smarter decisions to deliver even better products. Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high-quality prediction systems integrated with our products. This role is responsible for: i. Assisting with data mining and predictive modeling efforts: Assisting in the development and implementation of automated scoring using machine learning techniques, building recommendation systems, improving and extend the classification features used, developing internal A/B testing procedures, etc.ii. Process Improvement and Reporting: Creating reports to assess the current business performance and understand business risks in order to meet year-end forecasts, analytical programming and report writing (including but not limited to Hyperion/SQL, SAS, Salesforce, Tableau and Excel), identifying systems process improvements and enhancements, and supporting departmental systems initiatives.Career SnapshotAssist with data mining using state-of-the-art methods as well as selecting features, building, and optimizing models using machine learning techniques.Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining revenue management systems, Business Intelligence reporting, and user tools.Update current processes in SQL and SAS for changing business patterns and to improve performance.With supervision, conduct statistical analyses of business data, evaluate trends and pattern changes, and learn to disperse results in a format appropriate for the audience.Continuously search for potential business improvements, revenue opportunity and efficiency gains.Respond to ad-hoc data and analysis needs while supporting various projects.Helps to identify actionable insights, make recommendations and influence the business by effectively communicating results to the management.Participates in projects leveraging technology to improve departmental processes such as assisting in providing insight into potential technology solutions.In collaboration with IT, help to ensure smooth implementation of new applications and enhancements.Tracks and analyzes systems-related KPI‘s including, but not limited to, project timelines, expenses, and goals.Develops and delivers system and/or process training as needed.Assists in the development and implementation of benchmarking reports evaluating competitors pricing and evaluating potential threats.Develop clear, concise presentations to executives or department heads.May be required to participate in an on-call duty rotation. May be required to be available on weekends, after hours, and on short notice, as needed.May be required to travel 10% of time for site inspections, ship visits, training, conventions, etc.

RequirementsMaster‘s degree in Data Science, Applied Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred, but not required.Bachelor‘s degree in Data Science, Applied Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required.3-5 years related experience and/or training in an analytic or quantitative discipline required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Prior experience in tourism preferred.Systems certification related to the essential duties are a plus.Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Python, etc. Excellence in at least one of these is highly desirable.Experience working with Hyperion, Tableau, Salesforce, and Oracle highly desired.Familiarity SAS software suite highly preferred.Experience managing and validating big data required.Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL.Excellent applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.In-depth experience in data mining, business intelligence, data analytics, and project management required.Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modeling skills.High level of knowledge of personal computers with associated windows software, including Excel & PowerPoint.Judgment and analytical skills to make decisions based on circumstances.Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of employees and management.Ability to work in fast paced environment with multiple projects and priorities.Join our team as a Sr. Data Scientist.
