Brown University, Computing and Information Services is seeking the position of Data Science Coordinator.
The Data Science Coordinator will join the Data Science Practice in Computing & Information Services (CIS) to help enable and empower Brown faculty to integrate innovative and cutting-edge data science techniques into their research; track and recommend external funding opportunities for data-intensive research; promote the Data Science Practice’s expertise and successful collaborations; and organize events and competitions that promote data literacy and collaborations around big data.Please note: a cover letter and resume must be included in all applications.This is a two year fixed-term staff position, with the possibility of extension contingent upon available funding.Qualifications: A Bachelor’s or advanced degree, preferably in an area with a technical and computational emphasis and including research experience.Previous experience with data science, such as through coursework, online competitions, or self-directed study.Excellent writing, presentation, and organization skills.Strong intrinsic motivation and an eagerness to learn and apply new skills.Expertise with visualization tools and web programming preferred.Previous experience with grant writing is preferred.All offers of employment are contingent upon a satisfactory criminal background check and education verification.Recruiting Start Date: 2016-10-24-07:00Job Posting Title: Data Science CoordinatorDepartment: Grade: Grade 9Worker Type: EmployeeWorker Sub-Type: Fixed Term (Fixed Term)Time Type: Full timeScheduled Weekly Hours: 37.5Submission Guidelines: Please note that in order to be considered an applicant for any staff position at Brown University you must submit an application form for each position for which you believe you are qualified.
