Brown University, Computing and Information Services seeks qualified applicants for the position of Data Science Associate.

The Data Scientist Associate consults and collaborates with staff and faculty to build out data products and services across the university’s administrative, research, and teaching operations. These products and services enable data-driven decision making by senior administrators, enhance the university’s research efforts, and improve learning outcome for students. Work with Data Scientists and staff to identify priorities and opportunities for data mining and exploratory analyses of institutional data. Consult with faculty in any field involving big data and informatics, across the physical, social, and life sciences and the digital humanities. Consult with faculty, the Academic Technologies group, and other campus stakeholders on digital technologies for teaching and learning.

The grade of the position will be determined by the qualifications of the chosen candidate.
Please note: a cover letter and resume must be included in all applications.This is a two year fixed-term staff position, with the possibility of extension contingent upon available funding.Qualifications for Grade 9E: Bachelor’s degree required. 0 – 1 year of experience working on data science projects or related course work.Familiarity with several of the following areas: statistics; machine learning; high-performance and distributed computing; data mining, exploration and visualization; data management; algorithm design; software engineering.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines, and an eagerness to take ownership of challenging and open-ended assignments.Effective at communicating with audiences whose technical backgrounds vary widely.Qualifications for Grade 10E: Bachelor’s degree required.
