Current Need

Data Engineer

Position Description

The Date Engineer will join a newly formed Predictive Analytics team supporting the Business Performance Services organization. The team member will support the data infrastructure used in projects to capitalize on opportunities to the business in 4 key areas: customer insights, operational excellence, competitive analysis, and advanced modeling. The position will assist in the building of a consolidated data repository, linking that repository to analytical tools and systems, and assisting with both maintenance and updating of the repository on a regular basis. The ideal candidate for this role has considerable expertise in data architecture, an entrepreneurial spirit to thrive in the growth stage of the team, and is passionate about creating business intelligence.

Receives assignments in the form of objectives and designs data warehouse and business intelligence technology solutions to meet those objectives

Engages with team members including data analysts and data scientists to understand the data needs of the warehouse, turn them into logical patterns or requirements, and structure solutions as required by the business

Employs data architecture best practices

Run ETL (extract, transform, load) processes to populate data warehouse confirming data integrity

Recommends data integrity standards including frameworks and templates, naming conventions, coding standards, and file formats

Works with IT to leverage systems and tools to enhance business intelligence

Other duties as assigned Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

2+ years experience in analytics or data related fields

Critical Skills

2-5 years of applicable work experience preferably in data science, software engineering, or business intelligence

Comfort working with large, complex data systems to aggregate, organize, and prepare data for use in business analysis

Working kno wledge of relevant software packages for data management, statistical analyses and visualization. Potential tools include SQL Server, R, Python, Tableau, and Power BI.

Expertise in data architecture best practices

Ability to work with large amounts of data, including checks for integrity, summation, and completion

Effective communication skills (written and verbal) for interaction with both internal and external stakeholders

Demonstrated capacity to become “expert” in new topics and disciplines quickly

“Self-starter” attitude with the ability to excel in dynamic work environments Ability to manage multiple priorities

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated experience in bridging business requirement and technical development. Knowledge of data tools, such as SQL, NoSQL, Visual Basic, SAP, IBM, Neteeza, Teradata, Hadoop, and Oracle

Education

BA or BS degree or equivalent experience required

Degree in a quantitative or systems discipline such as Computer Science or Information Systems is preferred

SQL Server or Oracle DBA certification is a plus
