Job Summary
The ValoraLife team is an exciting team whose mission is to bring much needed insurance to previously under-served
consumers. ValoraLife is looking to hire a highly technical and strategic data analyst professional to join its team, based out
of Houston.

Role Characteristics
• Handles projects or work with defined scope in own discipline and typically has a short-term focus

• Works with guidance on small-scale team/unit projects

• Solves problems in own specialty area

• Makes worthwhile improvements to existing programs, and procedures

• Makes practical suggestions for improving work processes in own area

• Works for consensus and contributes to achievement of work group goals

• Individual typically hired in has at least 2-5 years of related experience

Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Responsibilities:
• Work with the operations team to develop advanced reporting capability
• Partner with other team members to develop system solutions and find new ways to gain data
• Partner with management to identify key business questions which can answered through data
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all KPI’s, metrics and data

Basic Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience building reports from raw data
• 2+ years of experience developing models and insights from disparate data sources
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with data and analytics preferably working with web/media data
• 4+ years of technical hands-on data management and modeling experience
• 4 year College degree
• Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the US for any employer without requiring Visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:
• Project Management experience
• Ability to analyze data sets to efficiently and effectively extract, transform and summarize and report data
• Understanding of the Hispanic and/or Middle Market
• Strong written, oral communication, and collaboration skills that enable clear and concise communication of data
issues and analysis that can be understood by a broad audience
• Background working with Google Analytics, DCM, Zendesk and Vertica
• Demonstrated ability to create practical solutions to problems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with peers within and outside the department
• Life insurance domain knowledge
• Startup or agency experience
• Tableau experience
• HP Vertica experience

Essential Skills/ Characteristics:
• Highly skilled with SQL and writing queries
• Expert in data management principles and data normalization
• Must be able to recognize patterns in data and remove “noise” from “insights”
• Experience in developing reports and charts to depict “data story”
• Exceptional excel and pivot table mastery
• Exposure to data modeling and understanding of predictive analysis
• Ability to propose improvements to existing system/data base/data structures
• Keen ability to articulate data concepts in lamens
• Ability to collaborate with remote teams
• Extensive experience with data analysis
• Experience with ETL tools
