Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, is the most robust and productive healthcare organization within the San Antonio Military Health System (SAMHS). Both inpatient and outpatient services are provided by approximately 8,500 staff members, including active duty military personnel from each of our uniformed services, Public Health personnel, federal civilians, contract employees, and volunteers. As the sole verified Level I Trauma Center within the Department of Defense (DoD), BAMC simultaneously provides emergency services during 80,000 Emergency Department visits annually and serves as the premier medical readiness training platform for both the Army and the Air Force.
The Data Analyst will support business focused on analysis for health care delivery systems/programs within the San Antonio market area.
: Assists with writing queries and stored procedures to generate data using Microsoft SQL.
: Works independently and participates on teams tasked with solving complex clinical business problems through analysis and business process design and reengineering
: Evaluates work products to ensure quality, accuracy and completeness
: Evaluates finding to develop new concepts, products, equipment or clinical/business processes or creates applications of finding to new uses
: Prepares schedules and sends technical/business/clinical reports for use by clinical, operational, or administrative personnel
: Assists with developing SAMHS Business Plan in coordination with San Antonio's MTFs and analyze each MTFs expected production targets.
: Perform analysis to support a variety of clinic practice initiatives.
: Provide analytical support regarding the integration, access and development of data to support the documentation, comparative analysis and outcomes analysis necessary to demonstrate the efficacy of clinical care delivery
: Provide data support for clinical operations
: Monitoring of data feeds from automated source data systems to identify issues.
: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Management, Statistics, Biostatistics or a related field
: Two years of SQL programming or SQL Server Database Admin experience
: Prefer Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) or MCITP
: Understanding of Managed Care principles, to include Tricare operations and policy as well as a working knowledge of the Military Health System clinical operations including appointment and referral management, primary care and specialty care operations, nursing, ancillary services utilization management
: Familiarity with the health care delivery systems and the information system used with the military treatment facility (e.g., CHCS, AHLTA, M2, MEPRS, EAS IV, MEDBASE, ICDB, MODS, RMS, CarePoint)
: Knowledgeable about the MTF Business Plans and their impact under the prospective payment/revised financing rules
: Familiar with healthcare optimization models
: Able to prepare, organize and program both routine and non-routine, ad hoc data queries from standard DoD databases to include CHCS, AHLTA, M2, MEPRS, EAS IV, MEDBASE, ICDB, MODS, RMS, CarePoint
: Understand coding/billing processes sufficient to evaluate processes impacting revenue cycle management.
: Proficient with VISIO, MS PowerPoint and MS Word
: Data mining skills using MS SQL, TSQL, MS Excel, Access, SSIS, and SSRS
